How old is your child?
He is 6 years old.
When did you discover your child was autistic?
We discovered this when he was 2 years old.
How has your autism journey been?
It has not been an easy journey. My family does not support me and l don’t have friends. My extended family blames me for the autism in our family.
How has autism affected your life on a day-to-day basis?
I am not able to work or have time for myself
Do you do any kind of therapy? What are the costs like? Is the therapy helpful?
We do occupational therapy at ksh1000 per session, and speech therapy at ksh1800 per session. I would say that therapy is helpful. I have seen lots of improvement in my child.
How about school? Is your child in school? What is the experience like for you and your child? If your child is not in school, how do you keep him/her engaged?
He is in a special school
What keeps you going and not giving up?
He is my son and I have to be there for him. As parents, we should give our kids hope and show them how to keep on moving despite the challenges they face.
Do you practise self-care? Do you ever get a chance to recharge?
Yes, I do.
What advice would you give parents of special needs children?
Always support your children. Autism is like a rainbow – it has both a bright side and a dark side, and even though it can mean rough weather, it can also be beautiful!
What advice would you give a parent who is scared of getting their child checked for autism?
You are not alone. Your child being autistic is nothing to be ashamed of.
What words of encouragement would you give a parent who has just gotten the news that their child has autism?
Do as you are told by the specialists. If they recommend that you should also take your child to a special school and not a regular school, do so.

You are such a strong mama and your son a hero,don’t mind what is said against you but continue doing the good work God is watching over you and all this He knows,and he says Jeremiah 29 that he has good plans for us plan for prospering us but not to harm us
